The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) commemorates the war dead from World War I and II. Over 1.7 million commonwealth forces are registered.
You can search the register by first and last names, country, cemetery or memorial, service number, regiment and war. Additional search options are also available including served with country, served in army, air force, civilian, unit, rank, age at death, date at death and honours and awards.
A search returns many details including the inscription, child of, cemetery details and grave registration reports. You may also download a commemorative certificate. Photos of the original reports are shown where available.
You can search for Australian War Dead by selecting the “Served with” option and choosing Australia.
